The DD13™ is built for bottom line performance. Designed specifically for Less-Than-Truckload, Regional Distribution
and Vocational applications, the DD13 delivers the serviceability and performance you need -- and up to 5% better fuel economy.*
|
The DD13™ means you don't have to choose between an engine with great fuel economy, serviceability and performance for your
LTL, vocational or regional trucking needs.
Demand Economy
The DD13 provides a smart, fuel efficient design that makes the most of every gallon -- offering up to 5% better fuel economy than
a similarly spec'd MBE 4000. It pulls this off by integrating ground breaking technologies -- the
Amplified Common Rail Fuel System (ACRS™) optimizes each injection event and an advanced cooling system decreases fan on time. And it pulls strong down to 1100 RPM
making driving in the fuel economy "sweet spot" a piece of cake.
Demand Serviceability
The DD13 lowers your cost of ownership with easier serviceability. It can go further between trips to the shop with the longest
service intervals in its class. And with all the filters (oil, fuel and coolant) positioned above the frame rails you'll be in and out
before you finish your first cup of Joe. The DD13 shares 65% of its parts with the DD15™ plus its common service operations ensure
trained technicians are available. So, you can rest easy knowing we'll have the part you need, when you need it and a trained technician
ready to serve you at one of our more than 800 parts and service outlets in North America. Whether you're in a big city, or the back
woods, you can get back up and on the road again, fast.
Demand Performance
Driving the DD13 gives you power and torque on demand. With a peak torque range of up to 500 RPM -- from 1,100 to 1,600 RPM -- your
"sweet spot" is a larger "sweet stretch." The engine's robust construction extends our track-record of engines with a B50 life of one
million miles. Another big part of the reliability stems from the asymmetrical turbocharger -- it has fewer moving parts versus the
competitor's VGT or waste-gated turbocharger. Other key performance features include:
- Jacobs Brake® with up to 546 braking horsepower
- Ribbed cast iron block that lowers noise vibration harshness (NVH)
- Robust rear gear train
